Mikhaela Cann to miss the 2022 Logan Thunder NBL1 North Season through Pregnancy

2021 NBL1 North Grand Final MVP and Championship winner Mikhaela Cann will miss the 2022 Logan Thunder NBL1 Season through pregnancy.

Cann informed Logan Basketball staff last week that the Cann family (McDonald’s Logan Thunder Men’s head coach Luke Cann), are expecting their third child due in July.

After signing to return for the Bendigo Bank Logan Thunder Women in 2022, Mikhaela will now take part in the season as a member of the coaching staff. Mikhaela will assist the playing group returning to defend the NBL1 North Championship with her leadership, experience and strong passion for Thunder team culture.

“Although I would love to be out there playing again this year, I think this is a really cool opportunity to mentor and help our young players with their development and experience in the NBL1” Cann said.

“I plan to be around as much as possible and do whatever is needed to play my part in hopefully another successful season for the Thunder Women”

“Luke and I are very blessed to have another baby girl on the way. There is nothing more special than watching your kids grow and navigate life together and we are just grateful that we are able to do this again”.

Cann will be almost impossible to replace, however the Thunder Women’s coaching staff are in discussion with a number of talented female point guards and will have more player announcements soon.
