Logan Thunder Fall Agonizingly Short In Nail-Biting Game

In an absolute thriller of a game, the Darwin Salties managed to edge out a win against the Logan Thunder, sealing the deal with a final score of 90-82. The action-packed match was a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, filled with standout moments and thrilling plays that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The game kicked off with some fresh faces in the lineup for the Thunder, as young guns Prasayus Notoa and Sharni Resinger got their first start after making waves at the under 18 state championships. Skye Mason wasted no time getting things rolling for the Thunder, sinking a three and following it up with an epic and-one play. But the Salties came out swinging, knocking down early threes to get an early lead and put the pressure on the Thunder. Despite the Thunder’s best efforts to shut down the Salties’ outside shooting, they just couldn’t seem to stop the long bombs from dropping. Props to Jessica Smith though, who brought some serious defensive heat for the Thunder. The first quarter ended with the Salties up 23-19, thanks to a 10-0 run and some solid bench contributions.

The second quarter was a real nail-biter, with Mikhaela Cann and Courtney Woods going back and forth on both ends of the court. The Thunder’s ball movement was on point, creating some sweet scoring opportunities for their Thunder young guns to close the gap with some big three point makes. Cann’s clutch free throws right before halftime gave the Thunder the lead and they went into the half with all of the momentum.

Coming out of halftime, Jade Kirisome kept the momentum rolling with a big three-pointer to extend the Thunder’s lead. Despite their efforts, the Thunder just couldn’t seem to catch a break, missing out on some golden scoring chances and letting the Salties claw their way back into the game. Kirisome started to heat up from downtown though, while Sharni Reisinger pulled off an epic sequence of plays including a corner 3, block, and putback to inject some serious energy into the Thunder’s game. Cann’s savvy play drew a crucial foul on Woods as she picked up her 4th foul, keeping the Thunder in the driver’s seat as they headed into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was a real heart-stopper, with Kirisome leading the charge once again for the Thunder. But the Salties’ stars wouldn’t go away, sinking some clutch threes and fast-break buckets to tie up the game with just over two minutes left on the clock. The Thunder felt the pressure mounting as they committed some costly fouls, allowing the Salties to pull ahead and seal the deal with a hard-earned win.

While the Thunder put up one heck of a fight, they’ll definitely be feeling the sting of this loss. But, there’s plenty of positives to take away from this game, especially with the young guns stepping up and making their mark on the court. As they gear up to take on the Seahawks next, you can bet the Thunder will be hungry for redemption, ready to come back stronger than ever.
