Thunder Recap: U14 State Champs in the Books

Thunder Boys and Girls Bring Home the Gold!

Our U14 Thunder Girls kicked off the success with a dominant 20-point win over Spartans in the State Championship Final. After falling short in the SQJBC Grand Final earlier in the season, the girls were hungry for redemption. With steady improvement throughout the week, they peaked at the perfect time to take home the #1 ranking in Queensland.

Our U14 Thunder Boys followed suit, going undefeated through both the SQJBC season and the State Championships, finishing with an emphatic 86–59 victory over Northside in the final. Their consistency, discipline, and high-level skill were on full display as they claimed the gold.

A huge congratulations to Tim Marshall, Naomi Moke, and Andrew Moke who led their respective teams all season and throughout the championship week. With both teams earning a place at the 2025 Australian Club Championships in Perth, Logan Basketball has now achieved three consecutive years of sending both boys’ and girls’ teams to Nationals—an unprecedented accomplishment in our club’s history!

Even more impressively, these wins mean Logan Basketball has now claimed all four U14 and U16 Boys and Girls State Championship titles in 2025—a remarkable feat made possible by the hard work behind the scenes from coaches, families, staff, and volunteers.

Thunder Gold Boys – Bronze in Division 2

Our Thunder Gold Boys had a fantastic campaign. After a narrow loss in pool play led to a three-way tie, the boys advanced to the semi-finals. Although they were edged out in the semi, they bounced back strongly to defeat Northside 84–68 and secure the bronze medal. A brilliant achievement—well done boys!

Thunder White Boys – Division 6 State Champions

Led by Coach Scott Chappell, our Thunder White Boys showed resilience, grit, and unity. Their final victory over Moreton Bay 71–65 earned them the Division 6 State Title. Their journey was a true testament to hard work and belief. We’re incredibly proud of the entire team and their support crew.

Thunder Gold Girls – 7th in Division 3

Our Thunder Gold Girls kicked off their tournament with a strong 17-point win over Brisbane Capitals and finished the week with another 3 wins and 3 losses, including a gutsy 48–42 victory in their final match to claim 7th place. After a challenging SQJBC season, this team showed constant determination and team spirit—something we’re very proud of.

Thunder Blue Boys – 10th in Division 3

The Thunder Blue Boys fought hard in every single match, with multiple narrow losses by margins of 1, 5, and 7 points. Their effort, sportsmanship, and determination were outstanding, earning them 10th place. This team showed true Logan spirit and growth throughout the season.

Thunder Blue Girls – 4th in Division 4

The Thunder Blue Girls had a memorable campaign, overcoming player outs and injuries along the way. In a major upset, they took down Gold Coast by 3 points in the quarter-final, then went on to compete strongly for bronze. Though they finished 4th, their resilience and togetherness made it a season to remember!

Thunder Maroon Boys – 8th in Division 4

Our Thunder Maroon Boys stepped up to a higher division for State Champs and embraced the challenge. Despite a rough end to the week due to injuries—leaving them with just six players—they never gave up. Their fighting spirit and pride in representing Logan shone through every game. An incredible effort!

We’re proud of every player, coach, manager, and supporter who made this journey possible.
