Thunder Pathway Producing National Talent

Thunder Pathway Producing National Talent

Logan Thunder continues to make its mark on the national stage, with four athletes selected in the Basketball Australia U17 Crocs and Sapphires squads.

Andrew Watene has been named in the U17 Crocs (Boys) squad, while Jay Sebasio, Olivia Olechnowicz, and Maddison Reisinger have been selected in the U17 Sapphires program.

These selections come off the back of strong performances at the recent U18 National Championships, where all four athletes represented Queensland South. The girls’ program secured a silver medal, while the boys delivered a fourth-place finish, highlighting the strength of the pathway our athletes are progressing through.

Selection into the U17 national squads places these athletes firmly in contention for future international representation, with the next U17 FIBA World Cup cycle on the horizon (held biennially, with the next tournaments scheduled for 2026).

This achievement reflects not only individual commitment and performance, but also the continued strength of the Logan Thunder development pathway.

We congratulate Andrew, Jay, Olivia and Maddison on this outstanding milestone and look forward to supporting their journey as they push towards international representation.
