NBL1 North: Queensland’s Premier Basketball Competition
The NBL1 North is Queensland’s premier semi-professional basketball league, running from March to August each year. Formerly known as the QBL, this prestigious competition has seen some of the country’s top basketball athletes progress through its ranks in both the women’s and men’s competition. The league features NBL and WNBL talent and is seen as a pathway program for Logan Thunder players to represent at the highest level.

Highly regarded as one of the best state league competitions in Australia, the NBL1 North attracts elite players each year, including international representatives, NBL/WNBL players, and talented athletes from US colleges.

The league has become highly competitive, with 14 Basketball Queensland affiliated Associations competing across three geographically-based pools, stretching from Cairns to the Gold Coast. Teams in the NBL1 North enjoy strong local support, with fans passionately backing their local teams.
