McDonald’s Logan Thunder Men’s Captain Michael Cedar returns

McDonald’s Logan Thunder Men’s Captain Michael Cedar will return for NBL1 North 2022 in what will be his 7th season for Thunder. Having played 100 State League games, Mick is now one of the most capped senior players in Thunder history and also in the NBL1 North league wide.

Prior to joining the Thunder Family at the end of 2015, Mick played 219 NBL games for the Townsville Crocs and has now played over 250 state league games (Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone – ABA, Super League, QBL, QSL, NBL1) in an impressive 20 year State League career.

Mick is employed by Basketball Queensland and works as the Indigenous Pathways Manager South delivering the Indigenous Community Basketball League in partnership with Indigenous Basketball Australia at the Bendigo Bank Cornubia Park Sports Centre.

Michael Cedar had this to say about returning for the McDonald’s Logan Thunder Men:

“Having been around for a long time in basketball at this level, my love for the game is probably stronger than ever and even though the body may not explode like I want it to, I can still play the game well between the ears and coming off a semi final loss last year, it has been a motivation filled off season to come back better than we were last season.”

“Coming to Logan at the end of 2015, I was able to see an impressive bunch of young boys playing u14’s for Logan and you could see that all they wanted to do was progress through and play for the Thunder Men’s team and last season to see that same bunch of young men come into the team and play games, that’s what being a family club is all about. Celebrating those milestones for that next generation.”

“Understanding the importance of everyone in the squad, 1 -15 players, coaches, managers. We don’t succeed like last year without our full squad and QSL players who fill in during preseason. Coaches time and effort to have us ready and the thankless job that being a manger can sometimes be. If we all come back knowing that we won’t succeed without each other, I know our success will be the same.”

“Every year, we come back bigger and better. 2022 will be no different. We all have unfinished business, and we need everyone in the Thunder Family to help us get that trophy and banner.”

Mick averaged 12.9 points per game, 2.5 assists per game and 5.8 rebounds per game shooting the ball at 44.5% in 2021.
