The Logan Thunder U14 girls’ division one team had an impressive season, starting with their SQJBC victory and finishing strong by winning the State Championship in Rockhampton. They defeated Ipswich by 6 points after overcoming a 9-point deficit in the first quarter. Their unbeaten run throughout the tournament secured them a place at the Club nationals in Melbourne this September. This success contributes to Logan’s strong women’s basketball program, alongside victories by the U18s and U16s Logan Thunder teams in the division one competition.
The Logan Thunder U14 boys’ Division One team also earned themselves a Club Nationals spot by finishing fourth at the State Championships. They narrowly lost to Northside by just 1 point in the bronze medal game, showcasing their resilience and determination throughout the tournament. With each game fiercely contested, the results could have swung either way. We commend the boys for their impressive efforts and look forward to their preparations for Nationals.
Logan’s success at the boys’ state championships continued with victories in Division Two and Division Five competitions. The Division Two boys, who narrowly missed out on SQJBC gold during the regular season, clinched the state championship title by defeating Spartans in the grand final 64 – 51.
Meanwhile, undefeated in the regular SQJBC season, the Division 4 boys rose to the challenge of tougher competition and secured a gold medal in Division 5. After losing to the Spartans in the regular rounds, the boys came back to beat Spartans in a 71 – 68 game.
Logan Basketball Association takes immense pride in all our teams across the U14 season and State Championships, as they represent us with pride. We are thrilled to witness the growth and development of all our players throughout the season.
