Carla Drennan back for Thunder in 2022

Logan Basketball is excited to announce the return of Carla Drennan who has re-signed with the Bendigo Bank Logan Thunder Women for the 2022 NBL1 North Season.

Originally from Willeton in Western Australian, Carla attended California State University Northridge playing Division 1 NCAA in the Pac West before joining the Bendigo Bank Thunder Women in 2020. Carla has played a key role in the Thunder women winning back-to-back championships in 2020 and 2021.

Carla signed a WNBL development player contract with the Townsville Fire following a successful 2021 in the NBL1 North. Carla has been working hard with the Fire and will return to the Thunder following the completion of the WNBL season.

Carla had the following to say about returning –

Why did you decide to come back to Logan for the 2022 NBL1 North season?

“If you’re a part of this club, you know the Logan culture goes unmatched. Being in a team with people and coaches who celebrate each other is the best place to be and ultimately made my decision to return easy.”

What have you been working on through the WNBL season that you will look to bring back to Thunder?

“Working everyday with the Fire has helped me grow in confidence and add lots of skills to my game. I’ve become stronger and expanded on different finishes I can use around the basket, while also enhancing my defensive game.”

– How has the WNBL season been for you in Townsville with the Fire?

“I’ve loved my time up here in Townsville and have grown so much in the season. Training at a high level with high quality players and coaches everyday has been very beneficial for me and my game.”

– What do the Bendigo Bank Logan Thunder Women need to do to win another championship?

“Continuing to build on the talent that we have and trusting in each other will help us to have another successful season. Our trainings are harder then any game we play so I look forward to doing it again with my Logan Thunder family!”

‍Carla joins Mikaela Ruef, Chevannah Paalvast and Ashley Taia as the next player signed for the Bendigo Bank Logan Thunder Women in 2022. More player and partner announcements soon.
