Logan Thunder Women Clinch 2025 NBL1 North Championship:

Brisbane, QLD – August 18, 2025 – The Bendigo Bank Logan Thunder Women have triumphed in an electrifying three-game Grand Final series, defeating the Southern Districts Spartans 2–1 to become the 2025 NBL1 North Champions.

A Series Full of Twists and Star Moments

  • Game 1: The Spartans struck early, winning 87 – 69, powered by a commanding display from Nicole Fransson, who anchored the charge 31 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks (13/20 FG)
  • Game 2: The Thunder bounced back big, clinching a tight 89 – 60 win to even the series and force a nail-biting decider. Leah Scott was a woman possessed desperate to keep Logan’s championship dream alive finishing with 35 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals and six assists on 15/19 shooting from the field and a perfect 4/4 from downtown.

Game 3:

The Logan Thunder Women pulled off a breathtaking comeback, edging out the Southern Districts Spartans 78–76 in overtime to clinch the 2025 NBL1 North Championship. After trailing by as much as 12 points deep into the third quarter, the Thunder fired off an electrifying 14-point run, capped by threes from Leah Scott and Amandine Toi to snatch the lead 53 – 52.

Despite Mikhaela Cann fouling out, the Thunder refused to back down. With the Spartans clinging to leads late, clutch free‑throw misses and a costly turnover opened the door for Logan. Toi’s massive three forced overtime, and in the extra period, Leah Scott (crowned Grand Final MVP) drilled the championship‑clinching triple.

Scott’s stat line was nothing short of spectacular: 24 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals, including 4-of-7 three-point shooting. Cann staying on court until fouling out added 15 points, 7 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds. Up and coming junior and star Sharni Reisinger (10 points, 5 rebounds)and Vahayliah Seumanutafa (7 points, 7 rebounds) both played vital supporting roles.

The Championship marks the Logan Thunder Women’s second NBL1 North championship, having previously won in 2021 .

Across the series, Leah Scott was a consistent pillar for the Thunder women scoring, rebounding, facilitating, and delivering in the clutch. Particularly in Game 3, her powerhouse final performance set the tone, defining her as the deserving Grand Final MVP.

National Finals
